Greg Stapleton Obituary

Gregory Edward Stapleton, of Scottsdale, went to be with our Lord Jesus on May 16th, 2007. Greg was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving mother, Marjorie Stapleton, sisters, Margaret Lepine, Carol Richardson, brother John Stapleton and 7 nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. One of Greg's aunts, Shirley Ploughman, was very prominent in his life. Greg was born on Feb. 26, 1953 in Lincoln, NE and attended schools there, graduating from Lincoln East High School where he swam on the varsity swim team and held several records. He attended UNL where he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity. After visiting his parents in Scottsdale, Greg fell in love with the state and quickly moved here. Initially, Greg worked at Shields Electric but with the encouragement of the Shields family, Greg opened his own company, Four Peaks Electric in 1983. Greg has had a great love for Jesus and music and he combined these loves by playing the drums and piano for several valley churches. The latest being "Word of Grace" in Mesa. Greg also loved the outdoors and had hiked allover the state. Greg's love of life and concern for his family and friends will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A Memorial ceremony will be held 7 pm Monday at Word of Grace Church Activity Center, 655 E. University Dr., Mesa with a reception at the church to follow. Visitation and funeral will be held at Messinger Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Rd, Scottsdale, 2:30 pm Tue., May 22nd, with interment to follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale.

Thank you for keeping this testiment to Greg's life on the Kormos website. It was been nearly a year since his passing and, as his sister, I am reminded every day of his generosity, love, strength under fire and adversity. He was always there in everyone's moment of need.

He was doing what made him happy. He was in Colorado working on his new, intended retirement home. The home radiates his love and energy to this day. While he spent many days and weeks at the Colorado home, he spent most days in Scottsdale thinking of getting back to Colorado.

Our mother misses him deeply. She is/was his confidant, his business manager, his strength when he felt weak and abused. While she and all of us slowly recover from our loss, he will never be replaced. On this day, shortly before the anniversary of his loss, I write to whomever may read this, but also for Greg.

We miss you little brother. Save a place in heaven. I can't wait to hear your laughter again. Margaret Ann.
